Event Roundups:- North Somerset Show – Good display of mv’s, including an anti-aircraft gun. Weather was a bit showery, but mostly fine.
Little Vintage Show – Another success for JK, two rows of mv’s, space was getting a bit limited on the Sunday. Dave Carr had his latest acquisition on show, an Abbott Self Propelled Gun, which created a lot of interest.
Trucks & Troops @ Beaulieu, well attended and no rain this time! Steve brought his Half Track, Hooky brought his “Animal”. This last gave the on site fire brigade some practice, as a gas leak appeared to be coming from it! Concerned members reported this and a call for its owner was put out on the public address system. Good thing Hooky returned promptly, the firemen were all set to cover his truck with a blanket of foam!
Castle Combe Steam Rally – Another good weekend weather-wise, a fine display of mv’s as this very popular show is well liked by our members. Martin Saunders brought his prize-winning AM General M.816 wrecker on the Sunday.
Upper Horfield Festival – After a very unpromising wet start to the morning, it did brighten up. Graham Gay brought his GMC, John Curtis his US Navy Jeep, Trevor and Paddy arrived in their jeep, minus canvas top, rather brave of them! And I brought the M.35.
Lister Tyndale Steam Rally – A strong military presence, as usual, some 35 in two rows near the show ring. Only eight came into the ring Saturday, but this was made up for on Sunday, with nearly twenty. An event sheet handed to each entrant might be a good idea…
Kemble Air Weekend – A report from Sarah and Annabel indicated some twenty military vehicles attended, this was previously a one day event.
That’s it, there is no more!
